DRIVE

Driving Rural Innovation through startup Villages across Europe

Description

The DRIVE project aims to boost local startups in Europe by fostering innovative ecosystems that develop new products, technologies, and approaches. The project focuses on three key pillars: identifying user needs and engaging with regional accelerators and incubators, organizing roadshows and hackathons, and providing mentoring for technology development. These efforts work together to strengthen SMEs and startups, promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange. The main outcomes include creating a European-level business model, securing funding opportunities, refining pitch presentations, and enrolling in acceleration programs for continued commercialization.

Objectives

  1. Mapping challenges and best-case scenarios: Identify development pathways for scaling up start-ups and SMEs in the sustainable bioeconomy sector.
  2. Designing capacity building modules: Develop training materials and organize Startup Villages Roadshows, combining mentoring sessions for start-ups and SMEs.
  3. Community building for start-up villages: Facilitate networking opportunities among SMEs and start-ups to foster collaboration and growth.
  4. Evaluating sustainability: Assess the long-term sustainability of the project’s methodology and solutions.
  5. Creating synergies: Establish connections with existing programmes and initiatives, ensuring policy uptake and integration.
