EUnvironmental emergency in simple words – Eunvironment

Description

The “EUnvironemtal emergency in simple words” concerns a 24-month Strategic Partnership that engages youngsters and youth workers in a project that focuses on raising awareness and advancing comprehension towards environmental issues. The project aims, on the one hand, at provoking the interest of youngsters towards climate change and the environmental challenges while, on the other hand, at increasing their potential to take action and further influence their communities towards a more sustainable lifestyle. The project targets at youngsters and foresees that their engagement to the project can play an influential role within their communities.

Objectives

The ultimate goal of the project is to advance youngsters’ attention on the subject so that they will be inspired to act as influencers and opinion-leaders challenging their communities under the same aim of the conservation of our planet. Communities need peers to act as leaders in taking initiatives under a common force. Citizens are keen on identifying personalities other than politicians to get influenced and inspired by and young people can successfully serve that role. Therefore, a concrete aim of this project is to raise awareness on the communities by motivating young people to convey the message of a sustainable life. Through the project activities and their engagement to the development of the project outputs, the youngsters realise in practice that the planet is a part of ourselves and, therefore, it is everyone’s responsibility to protect it and be part of its conservation.

A more sustainable way of living is the key message that we seek to induce to the young participants while values of active citizenship, community participation, solidarity and tolerance are those that we want to promote on their mindsets.

The project aims to leave its mark in the educational sector by allowing youngsters, youth workers and the teaching community to take advantage and make use of the guides, the online interactive courses, the comics and the board game to help people increase their awareness towards climate change.

The project results developed during the lifecycle of the project are:

  1. The “Envictionary”
  2. Educational Guide for youth workers on non-formal learning approaches on environmental issues
  3. Online Academy MOOC Courses on environmental terminology
  4. Comics/Board games with recycled materials
  5. Environmental Application game
